‘Cross!

with one comment

This past weekend we at Fred Marx ventured out of our mountain hideaway and observed a celebration of the autumn ritual of  ‘cross racing. ‘Cross is road bikes with fatter tires racing around on dirt, pavement and many times mud.  Just for entertainment purposes the course designer adds hurdles.  One must dismount, clear said hurdle, remount, and continue to race.  This is how it should be done.

How to hurdle... Part 1

How to hurdle... Part 3

Here in Utah we believe that kids should play too.

It can be done this way as well...

It never hurts that they give you a chance to win some gas money…
Dollar lap anyone?

Now here at Fred Marx it has been heard that ‘cross is best served up wet. There was no wet. It was dry here in Utah this time. Judges were heard to lament that someone had dropped the ball by not watering down the course. We have seen other peoples photos of ‘cross in mud and wet and think that this race was missing an important element….. Funny we at the Marx thought they were referring to the consumption of Adult Beverage, when they were talking about ‘cross being best served wet… Hmmm perhaps our next adventure to the north will yield up an answer to this most perplexing of questions.

Until such time, Hasta la vista
Fred
